Location:  Located in the heart of the Toronto’s financial district at King St and University Avenue, we are accessible through public transportation (just steps away from St. Andrews subway station and only minutes from Union Station)


Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the successful candidate’s mandate will be to partner with the business, Sales and Marketing on maintaining and developing HTC websites. This includes online strategy, implementation of new features/functionality and content updates.  Participate in design, development and support WebSphere Portal and WCM solutions. Development of themes, skins, JSR 286 portlets, WCM templates, WCM workflows. Develop Web Applications or User Interface using Java/J2EE technologies.


  • Works directly with business partners on all aspects of online strategy
  • Responsible and accountable for site developments and maintenance
  • Responsible for online site analytics analysis and interpretation, making based recommendations to the business and site enhancements
  • Is a centre of expertise for digital media and shares best practices with business and colleagues
  • Operates effectively as an individual for quick turnaround of enhancements and fixes.
  • Responsible for meeting expectations and deliverables on time and in high quality.
  • Work with internal IT team and to support all web initiatives
  • Advise on web functionality and technical considerations
  • Operates effectively as a member of the web team.
  • Assists in the maintenance and updating of current web sites and develops standards-compliant websites and web pages with cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility
  • Analyses and interprets functional requirements and specifications for new websites through close interaction with other departments and web team
  • Follow IS, design, web content, legal, copyright and permissions standards, processes and procedures.
  • Create strategic plans and roadmaps and generate idea creations and Business case for identified projects.
  • Support the delivery of programs/projects to ensure alignment to strategy Lead and oversee activities of assigned projects to ensure strategic goals or objectives are accomplished within approved time frames, scope and budget.
  • Prepare necessary requirements and design documents, test scripts, and/or migration plans according to business needs
  • Contribute to Cross-functional teams in the development of programs/projects and initiatives that align with Home Trust vision.
  • As the trusted advisor or expert in digital media and design, develop and implement Home Trust’s digital channel (web site & mobile) strategy on behalf of business partners to enable business partner strategy and deliver a measurable impact on shareholder value via increased revenue, client satisfaction, and reduced cost to serve.
  • Lead web initiatives on behalf of the business from strategy to tactical implementation as required

  • Design, develop, and  implement front-end web design
  • Responsible for the development of web applications and components.
  • Responsible for the design and development of web pages, graphics, multimedia, GUIs.
  • Effectively develops in a clean, well structured, easily maintainable format.
  • Utilizes storyboarding and graphic pre-designs where appropriate.
  • Centre of expertise for digital channels
  • Provide expertise within the Web team on current state business capabilities and industry trends and enterprise strategies in the Digital Channels.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with partners across Home Trust and third party vendors/suppliers involved in the delivery and support of digital channel capabilities.
  • Utilize research, site analytics, business drivers, etc. to propose solutions to optimize investment and maximize cross platform leverage, creating better integration between channels.
  • Generate leads and new ideas to increase the usage of the digital channels and provide additional revenue growth.
  • Ensure changes and enhancements to all websites are completed in a timely manner and protect Home Trust company from reputational risk
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed to verify no sensitive data is provided on sites
Job Requirements

  • University degree preferably in computer science
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ proven experience
  • Design, development and support WebSphere Portal and WCM solutions.
  • Development of themes, skins, JSR 286 portlets, WCM templates, WCM workflows
  • Develop Web Applications or User Interface using Java/J2EE technologies
  • Able to work independently as a self-starter on long-term projects with effective project management feedback as well as quick turnaround of short-term projects (enhancements and fixes)
  • Communicates information effectively in both technical and business environments
  • Maintains a positive, proactive and professional demeanor towards customers, colleagues, and management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting thoughts and ideas effectively across all levels of the organization
