Home Trust Company is currently seeking a Mortgage Officer to join our Underwriting Team for our Toronto head office.

The Mortgage Officer’s mandate is to work with the Mortgage Underwriters and Team Lead to review residential mortgage loan application files to verify that application data is complete and meets company standards.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage, compile and organize mortgage application information for mortgage loans in accordance with policy to create a complete package for credit evaluation
  • Evaluate and analyze documentation supplied by client and broker to ensure Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Client legislation have been complied with and meets HTC’s guidelines and policies
  • Order site inspections
  • Interview all clients as per policy
  • Conduct regular follow-up with brokers with respect to outstanding documentation
  • Instruct files to solicitors and follow-up to ensure timely closings
  • Ensure mortgage statuses are communicated to Mortgage Underwriter and Team Lead
  • Respond to client, broker and solicitor queries in a courteous and timely manner
  • Work in collaboration with the Team to ensure targets are being met
Job Requirements

Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills
  • Has in depth understanding of all HTC products
  • Communicates clearly both in writing and verbally
  • Demonstrates interpersonal, organizational and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrates negotiation and sales skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing working environment
  • Must be PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mortgage Reporting, Einstein and Purview
